Since 2005, the National Youth Council (NYC) has been lighting up the Youth Month of July with the SHINE Festival. The festival is the annual high-point celebration of youths nationwide, showcasing their talents, promoting talent development and highlighting inspiring youth leaders and role-models.
In 2015, SHINE Festival returned after a year break with a recharged three-day festival weekend from 10 to 12 July 2015 for its 10th anniversary. Targeted at youths aged 15 to 28, SHINE is a unique youth-for-youth festival where youths are encouraged to:
- Build Their Identity
- Build Their Connections
- Build Their World
Covering over four pillars of youth interests – Music & Dance, Urban Sports, Visual Arts and Pop Culture, YouTube influencers and stars here and abroad were invited to take part in SHINE. Charlie Lim, Night Owl Cinematics, David Choi, Arden Cho, Ryan Higga, Shigga Shay, Sean Garnier, Ryan Doyle, Tay Kexin, weish were just some of the participating performers.
